Luxury hotel in Greece: Aeolis Tinos Suites
Table of Contents
ToggleAeolis Suites on Tinos Island was our fifth stay on our Greek island tour (in July 2024). We explored three Greek islands: Andros, Syros, and Tinos.
This hotel is famed for its super luxurious suites, which are perched on a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea of Tinos. With inviting views and plush amenities, it promises an unforgettable stay for guests who crave exclusivity.
From its website, we didn’t realise how massive the resort was. On the contrary, from its gallery to its social media pages, we expected an intimate boutique hotel, but we were massively surprised by its grandeur and expansive views.
To find out more about Tinos Island, we suggest reading our feature article about Tinos.
Note that this review is based on our stay in one of the resort’s mid-range suites. While our feedback reflects our honest experience, it’s important to remember that preferences vary, and what might not have been entirely to our taste could be perfect for others. Many guests may find this hotel to be truly wonderful. Our aim is simply to provide you with all the relevant information, so you know what to expect during your stay.
As free-lance travel journalists, we have a responsibility to be transparent to our readers.
The reception upon arrival at the hotel
By the time we arrived at Aeolis Tinos Suites, we were already accustomed to the warm welcome travellers receive upon arrival in Greece. Disappointingly, we didn’t get the same (welcoming) vibes at this hotel. It could be due to the strange layout of their reception, which looked more like a fast-food ordering window than a reception of a posh resort, like Aeolis Suites.
What is the accommodation like at Aeolis Suites Tinos?
The restaurant and suites occupy a large piece of land over several terraces. The fourteen different types of suites are categorised from Premium Double Sea View to the Aeolis Cast Away Exclusive Residence. Some suites, like the Golden Villa and Cave Suites, have two bathrooms and two bedrooms, with the most luxurious suites being the Aeolis Private Pool Suites and the Aeolis Cast Away Exclusive Residence.
Guests are escorted to their suites with golf carts as the suites are scattered throughout the estate on several terraces.
Private Pool Suite with views in Tinos
We stayed in one of their mid-range suites referred to as a Private Pool Suite with views.
The room was elegantly designed, offering a serene and comfortable atmosphere. Our private splash pool added a touch of exclusivity. However, the water was quite cold because the pool is located on the side of the room (under a roof), which hardly gets any sun. What’s more, our view was not quite as spectacular as we had expected.
Our sunbeds were also cramped together in a small space between the walls of the room and the splash pool.
As noted in the introduction, we are aware that some of the other suits probably have better views and locations. However, this review is about the suite we stayed in.
Our bathroom, with a shower and single vanity, was neat but small. The suite comprised a queen-size bed, a double-seat couch, and a TV. The bed was comfortable and lavishly presented with quality bedding.
How to get to Aeolis Suites, Tinos
Aeolis Suites Tinos is conveniently located on Tinos Island, close to Tinos Town. Therefore, the hotel is easily accessed via ferry and local transport. Its location is ideal for exploring the island’s scenic spots. Regrettably, the hotel staff were not very helpful in planning our tours.
Amenities and Services Offered
The resort offers a variety of amenities, including a breathtakingly beautiful (and sunny) rim-flow main pool, a spa, and a gym. However, despite these luxurious offerings, the aloof demeanour of the staff (during check-in) somewhat tainted the overall experience, and we didn’t feel the need to experience their spa.
Is the food good at Aeolis Tinos Hotel?
We had mixed emotions about the food.
- Restaurant: We enjoyed authentic, delicious homemade pizzas. Yet, the atmosphere was stiff and pretentious. Again, this could be due to the staff’s lack of communication. We had to guess and make choices without much guidance.
- Breakfast: This was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety, and the setting around the pool added to a lovely, elegant morning ambience.
Guest Interaction and Customer Service
The staff’s friendliness and customer service were disappointing. They failed to provide us with essential information about the hotel and its surroundings.
Discovering Nearby Attractions and Activities
We were on our own when it came to exploring Tinos. The staff didn’t provide any information about nearby attractions, and our inquiry about local beaches was also left unanswered. That was pretty disappointing. However, we were able to benefit from the tips we had received at the previous hotel. You can find some of our best recommendations in our Tinos travel guide.
General Atmosphere and Ambiance
The hotel exudes luxury and beauty. However, the sterile atmosphere somewhat marred the overall vibe for us. Although the place’s grandeur is undeniable, it lacked the warmth and personalised attention one often receives in such luxury resorts.
Value for Money
The beautiful setting and luxurious amenities didn’t quite compensate for the indifferent service, making us question the value for money.
Pros and Cons of Aeolis Tinos Hotel
Pros
- Lovely private splash pool with changing-coloured lights at night (most suites have private pools)
- Magnificent main rim-flow pool (great photo opportunities)
- Great variety of food for breakfast
- Although the restaurant on the upper deck was not open during our stay, we can imagine that the views must be spectacular from there during warm summer evenings.
Cons
- Slow and intermittent Wi-Fi
- Unfriendly and unhelpful staff
- Lack of guidance received from staff about the activities nearby
- Aloof service did not match our expectations of this luxury resort
Who will enjoy Aeolis Suites Tinos?
Celebrities, influencers and guests with champagne pockets.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
While Aeolis Tinos Hotel offers stunning suites and a picturesque setting, the lack of friendly and informative service significantly impacted our experience of the hotel.
We acknowledge that the staff’s supposed lack of communication could be due to language barriers and that Greeks could have a totally different experience than us. However, this is not what we expected from a luxury resort with a reputation for service excellence.
