Table of Contents
ToggleFourways Farmers’ market is the best place to enjoy a relaxed weekend in Johannesburg. Moreover, the Fourways Farmers Market is by far the best festive market in Johannesburg due to the many live bands playing over weekends.
Just remember that this market is no longer in Fourways. A few years ago, FFM moved to Modderfontein Reserve.
Farmers Markets in Johannesburg
Farmers markets are great places to spend the weekend with friends and family. Although Capetonian boast about having the best farmers’ markets in the country, Johannesburg has its fair share of unique markets too.
For example, there are the Prison Break Farmers Market in Lonehill, the Rosebank Rooftop Sunday Farmers Market, the Bryanston Organic & Natural Farmers Market, the Stables Village Centre Farmers Market in Broadacres. However, the best one of all the markets is the Fourways Farmers market.
These farmer’s markets offer something for all interests, tastes, and ages.
We featured the Prison Break Farmers Market in our article “What to do in Johannesburg over a weekend”
This article will focus on the Fourways Farmers Market. The prettiest market in Johannesburg!
What is the Fourways Farmers market about?
The market consists of colourful tin sheds, giving the market an authentic African vibe.
The Fourways Farmers Market (FFM) is undoubtedly one of the most popular weekend food and beverage markets in the city. Over 107 vendor stalls sell everything from a variety of deli products to sweets, street food, drinks, handcrafted jewellery, clothing, beauty products, and décor.
It’s a hive of activity in a fresh countryside setting. Here, you can enjoy delicious food and soak in the sunshine and countryside while strolling through the unique stalls.
The market also offers vegetarian, vegan, organic, gluten-free and Halaal meals.
Where is the Fourways Farmers Market?
In 2020, the Fourways Farmers Market moved to the Modderfontein Reserve, only 20km from Fourways and 10km from Sandton.
The reserve is on a 265-hectare private conservation area with open grassland, several dams, and hills. Mountain bikers, walkers, trail runners, and bird watchers will particularly enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The market is easily accessible from Marlboro Drive and the N3 highway.
Fourways Farmers Market entry fee
There is an entrance fee of R20 per adult at Fourways Farmers Market. This includes the finest live entertainment in Joburg. The reserve is also pet-friendly. There are two entrances to the reserve, on Arden Rd (off Ardeer Rd) in Modderfontein and at Taroko Farm Norfolk Lane, Klipfontein. There is ample free parking.
